Here is "Swirls", a piece I just finished. The teal and purple swirls are free form crochet. When I wasn't sure how to turn them into a wall hanging, my mom suggested using white stretched canvas. I hate sewing and put off sewing the pieces to the canvas for several weeks. When I finally sat down to do it, it was very easy. I think it took all of 10 minutes. If that.

I've been delving into Free Form Crochet. I tried a few flowers. The red and white one is my first attempt. It's 9 inches across, a bit bigger then I was planning. I started with the center of a granny square and added a long string. Then, I crocheted the petals on the string and around the center. Then I added a wire in the base of the petals and shaped it.
The second flower is much smaller. It is 5 inches across. I used baby yarn and a smaller hook. I also didn't do the center round piece. I like it much better. I still have other ideas in my head.

Wow! These two pics are of the same granny square. The upper one was taken with my digital camera. I just couldn't get it in focus, so I scanned it on the printer. Look at the difference! It's in focus, but the colors are off. Tried to fix that, but this was the closest I could get. Don't know if it's because I'm just a beginner, or if I need better equipment.

This is a star shaped hand towel that I finished last night. It's based on a star shaped granny square that I made previously. I modified it, making it bigger and giving it a lip on the backside.
All you have to do is flip it over, put your finger under the lip in the point, and you can clean hard to reach areas, like around faucets, and in corners. It would also be useful if using the towel to wash around your eyes.
I'm planning to put these small towels up for sale on ETSY. Made from 100% cotton, they are easy to clean. Just throw them in the wash. I only have the one made right now. I better get cracking!

Got the pattern for this dishcloth off of Lyon Brand Yarn's website. I of course tweaked it a bit. Their example is round, while mine... is not. It's about 10 inches across. I made this one with acrylic yarn, which is fine for a sample, but not for actual washing. I may have to go to the yarn shop....
