Here is "Swirls", a piece I just finished. The teal and purple swirls are free form crochet. When I wasn't sure how to turn them into a wall hanging, my mom suggested using white stretched canvas. I hate sewing and put off sewing the pieces to the canvas for several weeks. When I finally sat down to do it, it was very easy. I think it took all of 10 minutes. If that.

I've been delving into Free Form Crochet. I tried a few flowers. The red and white one is my first attempt. It's 9 inches across, a bit bigger then I was planning. I started with the center of a granny square and added a long string. Then, I crocheted the petals on the string and around the center. Then I added a wire in the base of the petals and shaped it.

The second flower is much smaller. It is 5 inches across. I used baby yarn and a smaller hook. I also didn't do the center round piece. I like it much better. I still have other ideas in my head.

I made a hat for my friend's son to match the booties I made. I modified the hat pattern that I used on previous hats so that it would match the booties.

Here is a scarf that I crocheted for the gift exchange at work. Don't know who will get it. Will be fun to see how they react.

Here are a pair of baby booties that I made for a friend's little boy. I used a pattern that I found online from "Sandy's Cape Cod Originals". http://sandyscapecodoriginals.blogspot.com/
Her blog is very nice. If you like these booties, please check out her other works.

Here is granny square number 29 from "99 Granny Squares". I really like the central star. I'm already using that triangular concept in something else.

Here is number 23 from "99 Granny Squares". I'm not sure I did it exactly like the directions said. But, it's interesting, anyway.

Here's two more of my washcloths in the spokes series. Daffadil Daze and Candy Colors.

Saturday, August 20, 2011

Here are two more of my washcloths in the Spokes pattern. The first is Sweet Pea Stripes and the second is Sail Away Stripes.

Saturday, August 13, 2011

Wow! These two pics are of the same granny square. The upper one was taken with my digital camera. I just couldn't get it in focus, so I scanned it on the printer. Look at the difference! It's in focus, but the colors are off. Tried to fix that, but this was the closest I could get. Don't know if it's because I'm just a beginner, or if I need better equipment.

This is the spokes washcloth in "hot purple". I was hoping that the spokes would show a little bit better if done in a solid color. I also changed the angle of the camera shot.

These wash cloths have just been posted to ETSY. The stars are $5, and the circles are $4. They are made with 100% USA grown cotton.

This is a star shaped hand towel that I finished last night. It's based on a star shaped granny square that I made previously. I modified it, making it bigger and giving it a lip on the backside.
All you have to do is flip it over, put your finger under the lip in the point, and you can clean hard to reach areas, like around faucets, and in corners. It would also be useful if using the towel to wash around your eyes.

I'm planning to put these small towels up for sale on ETSY. Made from 100% cotton, they are easy to clean. Just throw them in the wash. I only have the one made right now. I better get cracking!

Got the pattern for this dishcloth off of Lyon Brand Yarn's website. I of course tweaked it a bit. Their example is round, while mine... is not. It's about 10 inches across. I made this one with acrylic yarn, which is fine for a sample, but not for actual washing. I may have to go to the yarn shop....

Here is number 18 from "99 Granny Squares". I use odds and ends of yarn to make these squares. You can see where I ran out of a color and used another to finish the row. Twice.

Saturday, June 25, 2011

This is number 17 from "99 Granny Squares". It's a smaller square.

Saturday, June 18, 2011

I like this granny square, the colors and the design. It is number 16 from '99 Granny Squares'.

This is square number 12 from "99 Granny Squares". I like the look of the last row. It's a nice touch.

Saturday, May 14, 2011

I just love this star-shaped granny square. I found the directions for it on the 4/29/11 issue of the Lion Brand Yarn newsletter. Can you picture a blanket made up of red, white and blue stars?

Saturday, May 7, 2011

This is square number 11 in "99 Granny Squares". Not that it's a square. :)

Saturday, April 30, 2011

Here's another square from The Lion Brand newsletter. From 4/22/11. I don't follow patterns very often, so it took a bit to figure out. But, hey, that was good for me, right?

Saturday, April 23, 2011

Here's granny number 10 from "99 Granny Squares". Not my normal color scheme.

Saturday, April 16, 2011

Here's a sample piece I did just for fun. The pattern is from the April 4, 2011 e-newsletter for Lion Brand Yarn. They include a different pattern for a knitting sample, also. My sample here is not exactly like the one they show. I ran out of yarn and didn't do as many rows.

Saturday, April 9, 2011

This is an afghan that I finished earlier this year. I posted a pic that I scanned on my printer. But, I have a new camera, so here is the entire piece. I love working in bright colors!

Saturday, April 2, 2011

Here is a giant granny square. It doesn't lie flat, but it drapes over the couch quite nicely.  Also present is the ever popular doggie throw toy. :)

Saturday, March 26, 2011

This is the number 9 granny square from "99 Granny Squares".

Saturday, March 19, 2011

Here is number 8 in "99 Granny Squares". I like that this one is kind of lacy.
